Paws for Purple Hearts - Transitioning from the War Zone

Matthew Decker is a US Marine Veteran of the war in Iraq, and the Clinical Director for the non-profit agency Paws for Purple Hearts (PPH). PPH uses dogs to treat Veteran's with PTSD and provides service dogs to Veterans.  Matthew holds a license in Clinical Social Work and has been working as an animal assisted therapist for 9 years.  In that time, he has worked in geriatric social work, community mental health, medical social work, and for the Veterans Administration working with combat Veterans with PTSD.  He has assisted in developing 2 service dog programs in Northern California and now focuses his attention on not just Veterans but getting the practice of Canine-Assisted Therapy more commonly accepted and practiced in mental health.
