Left Edge Theatre

In 1984, a group of local actors joined together to take a risk: produce a contemporary play never seen in the county before. Presented in an empty storefront in downtown Santa Rosa, the play was an astonishing critical and popular success. It became obvious there was an audience in Sonoma County that desired a contemporary point of view, an audience hungry for new work, the kind of cutting-edge, smart audience you wanted to have over for dinner.

For 20 years, Actors’ Theatre of Sonoma County delivered bold plays for contemporary audiences. Winning countless awards and accolades (including Best Theatre Company by the NB Bohemian readers poll 1998-2004), its audiences grew until merging with the Santa Rosa Players to form the 6th Street Playhouse.

Continuing the tradition of Actors’ Theatre, Left Edge Theatre endeavors to produce daring plays imaginatively staged for adventurous audiences.

Argo joined Actors’ Theatre of Sonoma County in 1997 and helped grow the company from 60 subscribers to over 600 in just 6 years. He has produced, directed and acted in over 60 plays, his favorites include Fully Committed, Santaland Diaries and Angels in America. As Executive Director of 6th Street Playhouse he helped raise $1.3 million and led the renovation project of an historic warehouse into a state-of-the-art theatre. He attracted over a million people to events in Marin by creating an online social arts network while Executive Director of the Marin Arts Council. He was awarded Top Five Arts Makers by the Press Democrat (2004) and Arts Maker of the Year by the Northern California Bohemian (2003). He earned a BFA from North Carolina School of the Arts.
